Volunteers are needed to support Bethany’s ongoing ministries. Please complete this survey to let us know about your interests so that we can invite you to be part of some of these ministries. Check those that you are already doing and wish to continue, as well as others that interest you. Remember--You are not making a commitment, just indicating an interest.

CHILDREN AND YOUTH

Sunday School Activity Leader- Lead children in an activity area such as games, music, art, cooking, drama, mission, or science. This is a 2 Sunday time commitment.
Sunday School Teacher Substitute – Fill in for a Sunday School teacher during the regular school year.
Youth Group Assistance – Provide help for individual youth group events such as chaperoning, transportation to and from events, and purchasing of supplies.
Youth Counselor – Serve as a youth counselor with middle or high school youth by attending meetings regularly and joining in youth group activities.
COMMUNITY SERVICE

The Road Home Shelter Program – Bethany joins two congregations to provide evening meals, play activities, provide sleep supervision and breakfast for families 4 weeks per year.
Luke House – Noon Meal – Bethany provides a noon meal to participants on the 4th Tuesday. Volunteers shop for groceries, make stew or help serve the meal.
Luke House – Evening Meal – Bethany provides the evening meal to participants on the 5th Tues or Thurs. Volunteers shop for groceries, make stew or help serve.
Men’s Homeless Shelter – 3 Bethany volunteers serve supper the 1st Sunday each month, 2 volunteers serve breakfast the following morning, and others shop for breakfast items.
Allied Food Pantry – Stock shelves & help persons choose groceries Wed. am or eve.

HOSPITALITY

Coffee Hour – Serve on a team one month/year to set out food and beverages for coffee hour between Sunday services.
Greeters – Occasionally serve as greeters on Sunday mornings either before the 9:00 service or before the 11:00 service.
Information Center Attendant – Serve on a team one Sunday/month to staff the Information Center between services.
Funeral Receptions – Assist with providing and/or serving food.
Food Donator – Provide food for various church events as needed.
Bethany Friends – Visit one member monthly who may not get to church regularly.
Ride Provider – Occasionally assist with providing a ride to church services or events.
Prayer Chain – Members pray for those who request prayer for others as well as themselves.

MUSIC

Chancel Choir – Sing in this choir at the 11:00 traditional service most Sundays during the regular year. Rehearsals are Thursday nights at 7:30 p.m.
Praise Song – Sing in this choir at the 9:00 contemporary service most Sundays during the regular year. Rehearsals are Thursday nights at 6:30 p.m.
Adult Handbells – Play handbells in this choir which plays for services several times each year. Rehearsals are Thursday nights at 6:15 p.m.
Pianist – Provide piano accompaniment occasionally for the 8:00 worship service.
Instrumentalist – Instrumentalists are needed occasionally for special worship services.
SUPPORT

Prepare Sunday Deposit – Approximately once per month spend one hour after the last service to help prepare the Sunday offering for deposit.
Historian Help – Sort collection of photographs and place in albums Thursday mornings
Photographer – Photograph special services and events as needed.
Yard Work/Gardening – Be part of a team that maintains planted areas including spring/fall clean up, mulching, weeding, and watering.
Bulletin Board Display – Create bulletin board displays for various locations within Bethany.
WORSHIP

Children’s Time Leader – Serve on a team to take turns leading children’s time during the worship service. Resources provided.
Scripture Reader – Occasionally serve as the liturgist for the 8:00 or 11:00 worship service. Please select a preferred time(s) below.

Sound System Operator – Serve on a team that is trained to operate the sound system on Sunday mornings. Training provided.

PROGRAMMING & TEAM PARTICIPATION

Children and Youth – Encourages the spiritual awareness, knowledge, and growth of children and youth.
Church Life – Engages members in the life of the church through worship, small groups, caring, internal communication, and special events.
Finance – Ensures that our church has the financial resources necessary to achieve its ministry goals.
Lay Leadership – Promotes engagement in ministry and provides support (leader training, interest surveys, team recruitment)
Membership – Works to attract, welcome, and connect people to the church family and is responsible for website oversight.
Memorials and Bequests – Oversees Bethany's endowments and administers memorials and bequests.
Outreach – Coordinates Bethany's involvement in missions, and in church and society issues.
Prayer Chain – Members pray for those who request prayer for others as well as for themselves.
Staff-Parish Relations – Serves as the "human relations" arm of the church, providing for the staffing needs of the Bethany church family and supporting staff.
Trustees – Develops a proactive maintenance and improvement plan to provide a facility that supports our ministries
