Reconciling Statement

Statement of Reconciliation

We believe all people are recipients of God’s love and grace, and that God intends the church to be a community that embodies love, grace, and justice for all people.  As a sign of faithfulness to God’s covenant with all humankind, we believe that God intends for us, as part of the Christian community, to celebrate diversity and to welcome and accept all people as members of the household of faith.

As an expression of Christ’s inclusive love, we affirm the wholeness of all people, and we hope to bring reconciliation to all people within our congregation.  We welcome people of all sexual orientations and gender identities to worship at Bethany United Methodist Church and to be a part of our church family.  We also seek to address and advocate for the needs and concerns of all people in our church and society, and to use their gifts in our ministry without regard to sexual orientation or gender identity.
