Mark Saltzman, Director of Caring and Visitation
My wife Cheryl and I have lived here in Madison for over a decade and I have actually never lived outside of Wisconsin. I was born in Ripon and was baptized in the EUB church (which then joined the Methodist church to become United Methodist), but most of my early life was in Janesville. I grew up very involved in Mt. Zion UMC where my mom is still a member. One of my first life changing events came at a summer camp at Lake Lucerne. I have very fond memories of my time at Lucerne and I love going back. Being out in nature really helps me feel closer to God. Eventually I went to UW and got a degree in Music Education. I taught in several small towns including Beaver Dam and Milton before coming back to Madison for grad school. After getting my masters in 1994 I was lucky enough to get a job teaching here in Madison. I feel very blessed to live and work here in Madison. I have been a band director at Whitehorse Middle School (formerly Schenk ) on the east side for about 15 years. I am strongly considering going into the ministry in the future, but for now I am still continuing to teach. The time I have spent here at Bethany has been wonderful. I have felt very warmly welcomed and have enjoyed the connections I have made during my time here. Our older adults are truly a resource that I feel lucky to be getting to know. |
