Director of Handbell Choirs at Bethany since 2004, Paul Litterio, originally of Reading, Massachusetts, became involved with music at an early age. First studying piano, then French horn, he became interested in handbells during high school in Andover, MA where he became an active member of his high school's handbell choir for four years. He then went on to receive a B. Mus. in horn performance from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, where he also studied conducting techniques, and he received an M. Mus. from UW-Madison also in performance.

At Bethany, Paul directs the three handbell ensembles: Angelus Bells, for the youngest group of ringers, Youth Bells, for the more advanced younger students, and the Bethany Carillons, they are the adult ringers and most advanced student ringers. In addition to enhancing the worship services on Sundays, the Carillons present a Christmas pops concert at Meriter Retirement Center's concert hall, and all three handbell ensembles also present an annual spring pops concert at Bethany.

In addition to directing the handbell choirs at Bethany, Paul is an active freelance horn player in southern Wisconsin and is currently principal horn of the Beloit-Janesville Symphony and a contracted musician with the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra, Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, and the Janesville Armory Theatre. He actively maintains a private teaching studio and thoroughly enjoys teaching horn to younger musicians.

When not totally consumed by musical activities, in his limited free time Paul enjoys traveling across the country by rail and has traveled extensively throughout the USA and Canada on Amtrak, Via Rail, and the Alaska Railroad.
