My growing up years were spent in Cincinnati with my parents and my older brother John. After high school I attended the University of DePauw in Greencastle, Indiana where I majored in history. Following graduation I enrolled in Princeton Theological Seminary where I received a Masters of Divinity.

Ministry began for me as the Youth Director at First United Methodist Church in Madison. It’s also where I met my wife Becky. Our next two ministry stops were in the Chicago area where I served on staff as an associate pastor in Arlington Heights and where later I served as the pastor at Faith Church in Waukegan. In 1995 Becky and I returned to the Wisconsin Conference where I was appointed to serve as the pastor of the church in Mequon. After nine wonderful years, Becky and I were thrilled when we were asked to return to Madison and begin our ministry here at Bethany.

Our three children, Claire 20, Drew 17 and J.D. 9, are the joy of our lives and keep Becky and me constantly on the run. In addition I love working around our farm and helping to care for our menagerie of animals including several horses. As a family we love to downhill ski, and when the opportunity presents itself, I have been known to swing a golf club or two.
