Taras is a freelance composer, musician and clinician, directing numerous musicals in the Madison area, as well as composing and arranging music for colleges and high schools. Taras is the chief orchestator and choral director of the Kids From Wisconsin. In 1997 he composed the full musical, Everyman, which premiered in Madison and was later performed in California. In 2002 he won the Wisconsin Choral Directors Association composers award. Taras has been the director of music at Bethany UMC since 2001. He lives in Cottage Grove with his wife Lori and three kids Mykhailo, Tatyana, and Andryi.

At Bethany he directs PraiseSong, the praise choir that provides music at the 9 AM contemporary service and the Chancel Choir which sings at the 10:45 AM traditional service.
