Youth

Bethany’s Youth Ministry is a safe, comfortable, LGBTQIA+ friendly place where you can be yourself, hang out with friends, and explore your faith.

Our church family loves to interact together.  We have an annual All-Church Retreat in addition to various events throughout the year.  (See our Calendar page.)

Fellowship Events

We enjoy a variety of fun activities together throughout the year:

  • Game Nights

  • Congregational meals

  • Church Retreat at Pine Lake

  • Group outings to music and sporting event

Confirmation

Confirmation is taught on alternating years for students who are age 7th grade or older.  Confirmation students bond together with each other and with their adult mentors throughout the 9-month program.  Participants study the history of the church, the faith journey, other faiths and religions, their individual covenant relation with the church, and a better understanding of the role they play as a disciple of Christ if they choose confirmation.

Service Projects

The youth participate in numerous service projects throughout the year:

  • Seed Collection at Pheasant Branch Conservancy

  • Food Pantry support

  • Heartland Farm Sanctuary support

  • Rice Meal Packs for Midwest Missions

Bethany’s Safe Sanctuary Policy

Bethany United Methodist Church adheres to a policy of safe sanctuary to reduce the risk of child abuse and to maintain standards for the safety of the children and youth of our church.  The policy lays out appropriate procedures for church staff and volunteers working with children and youth.
